Plantar Fascitiis: A Survey of Physiotherapy Practice in Greater Manchester.
Plantar fasciitis (plantar heel pain or plantar heel pain syndrome) and, more
importantly, its management, is poorly understood despite it being one of the
most common musculoskeletal lesions of the foot (De’Maio, 1993).
This study sets out to identify and provide detailed information about the
current physiotherapy management of plantar fasciitis in Greater Manchester.
Additionally, the study aims to highlight both agreement and diversity in
musculoskeletal physiotherapists’ approach to the diagnosis, management
(treatment) and measurement of plantar fasciitis. Finally, it seeks to establish
if any comparisons can be made between the management approach used by
specialist and rotational musculoskeletal physiotherapists.
