Exploring care assistants` understanding of pressure ulcer prevention within a residential care home setting
Although traditionally seen as a nursing responsibility, it is care assistants and not
nurses who carry out the majority of pressure ulcer prevention tasks within
independent residential care homes for the elderly. Little is known about current
pressure ulcer prevention strategies within the independent sector, even less
appears to be known about how care assistants understand pressure ulcer
prevention within the context of their work environment.
